Founded in 1975 by Dr. Charles L. Ward, The Animal Hospital has provided excellent service to the Triangle area for over 30 years. As of December 31st 2008, Dr. Ward has retired after 37 years of service. Associate doctors Erik K. Dorsch and DeWana Anderson became co-owners of The Animal Hospital Jan. 1, 2009.

All members of The Animal Hospital are dedicated to quality care for our patients and the best service for our clients. Most of the staff have companion animals, and thus understand the needs of the people we serve. We are committed to providing quality medical and preventive care and comprehensive education. Together we can choose the alternatives that best meet the individual needs and expectations of our clients and our staff.

Veterinarians:

Dr. Erik K. DorschDr. Erik K. Dorsch
Owner
Dr. Dorsch earned his DVM from the Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. He then began his veterinary career at a clinic in Nashville, Tennessee. From there, he joined the staff at The Animal Hospital in January of 2002.

Dr. Dorsch is a member of the AVMA and the NCVMA. His special interests are chronic pain care, laser surgery, and geriatric care.

Dr. Dorsch and his wife, Michelle Droke, also a veterinarian, have a full house with dogs Merlin and Orsina, and cats Joe-Bob, Merlin, and Stella. Dr. Dorsch enjoys reading, playing basketball, and tending salt water aquariums.



Dr. DeWana Anderson
Owner
Dr. Anderson completed her undergraduate work in Animal Science at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She received her veterinary medical degree from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. After practicing in Nevada for several years, Dr. Anderson moved to Carrboro in 1998. She began working at The Animal Hospital in September of 2003.

Dr. Anderson sits on the Board of Health for Orange County. Her veterinary interests are geriatric care and illnesses associated with old age.

Dr. Anderson lives with her crazy dog Fat Dog, and less than energetic Sugar Cat. She spends her spare time with her pets, and enjoys gardening, painting, and observing nature.



Dr. Michelle E. Argersinger
Dr. Argersinger earned her DVM at Cornell University. Prior to moving to the Triangle, she worked for two years at the Liverpool Animal Health Center near Syracuse, New York. Recently, she worked at the West Side Animal Hospital in Durham and at East Coast Veterinary Imaging of Cary. Dr. Argersinger began working part-time at The Animal Hospital in May of 2001.

Dr. Argersinger is a member of the AVMA and the NCVMA. Her veterinary interests are dermatology and internal medicine.

Dr. Argersinger resides in Durham with her husband Greg, children Michael and Olivia, dog Max, and cats Bubba and Willow. She is an active member of her church choir, plays piano, and enjoys reading and sailing. Dr. Argersinger also is a regular platelet donor for the American Red Cross.
