Emergencies:

The Animal Hospital is equipped to handle most emergency situations. Our doctors have treated a wide variety of serious or life-threatening conditions, including:

  • trauma from falls or car accidents
  • accidental poisoning
  • respiratory distress
  • exposure
  • snake bites and insect stings
  • puncture wounds
  • fight wounds

However, The Animal Hospital is not an emergency hospital. Some emergency patients require more extensive treatment and must be sent either to a specialist or to an emergency facility after being stabilized.

If your companion animal is in serious or life-threatening condition and The Animal Hospital is closed, call or go to the Triangle Veterinary Emergency Clinic (TVEC) in west Durham. TVEC is open when we are not.
